At Duke University Press, we have entrusted VTeX with the typesetting of our mathematics journals for several years, and we have been very pleased with the high quality of their work and with their expertise in both LaTeX-based composition and the conventions of mathematics publishing. As a responsive and proactive partner, VTeX has been instrumental in helping us achieve our editing and production goals for our mathematics journals.
Since 2001, we have used VTeX as the exclusive typesetter for our scholarly books and journals. They provide us with the highest quality typesetting and customer service. Their attention to detail is phenomenal. In addition, they created EJMS to streamline author submissions, and SkyLatex to improve the way authors supply corrections to their manuscripts. We could not be more pleased with the service they provide.
Overall, of course, we are very happy with VTEX’s level of service, style of communication, and the pro-active approach to resolving issues that we have frequently experienced.
We are very pleased with the speed and the quality of your team.
Our main production environment is LaTeX. Using this document preparation system and markup language, we structure and enrich an original compuscript, and generate all required deliverables from it as a single source.
According to publisher requirements, we can prepare a full-text XML conforming to a specific DTD, just metadata XML, or XML containing all the required elements of an article and supplementary materials.
At VTeX, a number of DTDs are currently supported by the standard production workflow where any other DTD can be virtually implemented on request. With our converters, the XML format can be transformed into HTML or E-PUB. All required deliverables (online content, print and web PDFs, EPUBs, XML+MathML, HTML, etc.) are generated out of one enriched source — the LaTeX production file.
Typesetting services are accompanied by the graphic material preparation service according to the publisher’s requirements and optional language editing service.
Academic content usually has complex illustrations, diagrams, or charts. When it comes to graphic material preparation, our electronic data managers re-size, re-draw, and re-letter graphic content, if it does not satisfy the requirements of the publisher. If necessary, we re-label text and/or re-draw illustrations, maintaining consistency in labels and sizing. All graphic materials are improved according to the publisher’s requirements.
Since our main production tool is LaTeX, language editing is made directly to a LaTeX file. All of VTeX language editors are native speakers and experts in STM fields. We have experience with manuscripts that are written in English, German, and other languages.
Authors seek to publish their manuscripts quickly, however, the whole lifecycle of publishing takes a while. VTeX staff consists of STM professionals with years of experience in the publishing field, providing a wide range of services within the best possible turnaround time and can make the prepublication process as short as several days.
With VTeX converters, enrich your journal with convertible and machine-readable content in the form of the full-content XML. The XML format can be automatically transformed into HTML or E-PUB. Within VTeX, all required deliverables (online content, print and web PDFs, EPUBs, XML+MathML, HTML, etc.) are generated out of one enriched source — LaTeX.
VTeX is based in Lithuania and employees are the biggest asset of our company. Most of our staff have worked at VTeX for more than 15 years. We are proud that all our services are done in Lithuania.
